Roughly one year ago Taryn and I attended Summerfest, one of my favorite music festivals to date. I have attended Lollapalooza, Cultivate and many others. Most music festivals are viewers going directly from band to band, no break or chill. At Summerfest, life is a bit different. The atmosphere is amazing, tons of vendors, things to do and many acts. I personally will not forget the School of Rock kids taking the stage during the early am. The encouragement to get into music or some other activity is so important to culture and creativity. After watching the kids rock out, we took a stroll around the park, visiting a large number of vendors and purchasing a couple items along the way. Aside from t-shirts, I purchased a cross made of guitar string ends as well as a bracelet for Taryn made of bass strings. You may see these in pictures from time to time. Thereafter, we got settled for the main acts that would lead to the performance we drove up to see, Death Cab For Cutie. After a number of local cover bands, we watched Catfight perform a number of originals and covers. They did put on quite the entertaining performance, although I don't have any pictures or set list information. The next act to play was Julien Baker. She has grown in popularity, and we discovered why. She has an INCREDIBLE talent for an indie artist and I hope to see her grow. Her tonality is quite original and refreshing. Hopefully, we will see her again at another show. Finally, Death Cab For Cutie! They brought a solid, non-stop set of seventeen songs to the stage. It was truly a performance that we won't forget. I would post more pictures, but being engaged at a rock show is more important :)
