Kegel Route 66

"ROUTE 66 - 4345 As one the longest roads in America, so is this pattern in the series. At 45 feet in length, and as with most long oil patterns, the optimum line is usually one that is closer to the pocket or more towards the inside portion of the lane. The greatest slope of conditioner on the ROUTE 66 is from the 11th board to the 16th board so players should target along this route. Outside of that slope, the pattern is flat so there will be very little room for error. If you get hip to this tip, take that bowling center trip to get your kicks on ROUTE 66!" - Kegel

SSE - 2017-06-14 (Week 6)

Second attempts typically prove to be easier - and bowling closely relates to this.  After struggling a bit in week one, week two was much easier.  Instead of bringing out the bigger guns up front, I decided to play a tighter line.  This starting concept greatly improved my consistency.  Let's dig into the game by game for week two on Route 66!

SSE - 2017-06-07 (Week 5)

Route 66 isn't truly a sport pattern, but it is long, making it extremely challenging.  The length of the pattern and the condition of the lanes gave it a nice area to play in.  Missing left or right typically meant convertible spares, rather than a dreaded washout.  I was able to play in the middle, standing roughly 25 and playing out to about 12 at the break.  This held for the first game and a half before having to make adjustments inward.  Thankfully, it was easy to adapt to via moving 2 and 1 over as the lanes broke down.
